Year 6 - Leopards
Mr Northedge and Mr Clements would like to welcome you to the Year 6 class webpage
To you from us
Eastlands have created a support network sheet for you to complete if you feel you would like to. It is made up of those people around you who look after you, help you when you have a problem, listen to you when you are talking, laugh with you when you have fun and make sure you are healthy and well cared for. Who is part of your supportive network? Although you are not coming to school, we can still be there to support you. With a grown up, can you make a supportive hand? Click on the picture to download a hand.
The Warwickshire School Health & Wellbeing Service have put together the attached booklet to support both Year 6 children and parents/carers with transition to secondary school. It contains tips and advice, an activity and a preparation checklist. We know the start to the new academic year might be a little different this year, but they hope this booklet will help families feel more prepared no matter when and how it takes place. Click HERE for the booklet.
There have been big changes in our lives because of coronavirus, so the Children's Commissioner has created a children’s guide to coronavirus to help explain the situation. The guide aims to answer children’s questions about coronavirus, tell children how to stay safe and protect other people and how to help them make the best of their time at home. Click on the picture below to download the guide. This will take a few moments.
KS2 SATs Presentation to Parents
Thank you to everyone who attended last week's SATs presentation. Here are the presentation documents for those who were unable to attend.
Here's where you can download homework sheets. Sometimes, the PDF documents include links to Youtube videos that walk you through the steps if you get stuck.
Cross Country February
A very well done to the 17 competitors who represented Eastlands Primary School at Heat 1 of the Rugby Schools Cross Country. Spare a thought for the Parents' cars! Thank you to the staff, parents and supporters who came along to give encouragement and support. Also, thank you to the children, you should all feel very proud. #ProperCrossCountry
Class Blog
The Y6 class blog uses Purple Mash's 2Blog software to support our writing skills. We're about to launch into a five week project, working in pairs to create blogs about a shared interest. Check back regularly to see how things develop.
Coding
Y6 Leopards have been remixing code to modify an animal click-and-hide game, changing the background, characters, Timer and Points Scoring elements. Enjoy playing the games
The Mythical Realm of Unicorns
Year 6 have enjoyed creating non-chronological reports about unicorns, which led to some inspirational team presentations. Even though we've edited only brief highlights for each child, we've still had to split them into three clips - it's always a trade-off between file size and image quality.
17th January 2020 - Celebration Assembly
You can revisit our Celebration Assembly slides here.
9th December 2019 - Christingle
As part of Year 6's RE learning, they have been exploring the meaning of Christingle. They thoroughly enjoyed making their own.
Science Explorations
Year 6 are investigating all aspects of electricity.
Digital Biome Project
For the past four weeks we've been working on creating iMovie trailers based on the game No Man's Sky, making connections with the science-fiction themes in our class novel The Jamie Drake Equation. Tasks included using still screenshots, video clips (and a comparison of the two) and voiceover narration.
You can watch the videos by following the link to the class SeeSaw blog here.
