Year 3 Turtles Celebration Assembly
It was lovely to see so many grown ups at our celebration assembly on Friday. The children loved showing you their achievements and certificates. They are all absolute superstars and it was so hard to pick just one area for each of them to celebrate. The transition from KS1 to LKS2 is huge and they are just taking it in their stride. Mrs Birnie and Mrs Humphreys are very proud of them. Keep up the great work Year 3!

Our Corridor Display
We are very proud of our display and learning all about Stone Age Boy.

23rd October
Geography Week
Year 3 participated in Geography Week which Mrs Birnie introduced the whole school to in assembly. The children took part in various activities, one which included them to ask each other questions to try and complete their bingo grid with different names within the class. It proved a challenge as some of these statements didn't have many names we could write down but the class enjoyed the competitiveness whilst practising their oracy skills.
10th October
ENRICH - Orienteering
Year 3 joined Year 4 in participating in an ENRICH orienteering activity around school. As it's Black History Month, the children had to complete an activity sheet on Mary Seacole and find the answers on the different course markers around school. They had to use their map reading skills whilst interpreting an aerial map of the KS1 and KS2 grounds. Well done Year 3!
9th October
Black History Month
Year 3 have been doing some research on Black History musicians as part of our Black History Month activities. They learnt about Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald , Stormzy, Bob Marley and Emeli Sandé. The children produced some lovely writing on their particular musician that they chose and were inspired by their journey to fame.

1st October
Presentation and non-negotiablesTurtle Class have been working hard in their lessons and have been introduced to the term: 'non-negotiables.'
They are really trying hard in literacy lessons to join their letters - some children for the first time! We are concentrating on handwriting and ensuring we are keeping our work next to the margin and on the lines.
In maths, the children know that one digit goes in a square and we've been working hard on number formation, number sense and place value.
The children are taking more accountability for how their books look. We've been so impressed with their efforts and it's lovely to see the children taking more pride in their work. Keep it up everybody!

26th September
Stone Age Debate
Year 3 have been loving our work on the Stone Age and we've been on a journey through prehistory from the Palaeolithic all the way to the Iron Age. The children are very knowledgeable now about life in the Stone Age and have loved our texts: The Stone Age Boy, How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth and Ug. We had a mini debate on whether they would argue for / against living in the Stone Age. They were very convincing!

25th September
Tag Rugby
Our Year 3 and Year 6 children, took part in a Tag Rugby festival event at St Andrews Rugby field. The festival was an opportunity for all of our children, to be introduced to Tag Rugby, a non-contact form of the sport. The children learnt basic skills and how working together can achieve more. We never know, we might have inspired a future World Cup player. Well done to both year groups.
