As a school, we take part in the WOW Active Travel to school scheme.
WOW is a led by the children where they self-report how they get to and from school every day using our interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably three times a week for a month, they will be rewarded with a WOW badge. It's that easy!
To actively travel you can walk, scoot, cycle and even park and stride. Park away from school and walk for the last 5 - 10 minutes of your journey. You can park at the GEC car park and cross with the school crossing patrol or park at Whinfield car park and walk around the field and into school through the field gate.
Out monthly EYFS and KS1 Class of the month goes to Year 2 and KS2 Year 6. As a school we have finished 1st in the Local Authority and 2nd in the Country. Well done to everyone for trying to travel actively. Walking was the most popular with 42%, 3410 active journeys were taken and 176 badges were awarded. Well done everyone. Today our Year 3 and Year 6 children, took part in a Tag Rugby festival event at St Andrews Rugby field. The festival was an opportunity for all of our children, to be introduced to Tag Rugby, a non-contact form of the sport. The children learnt basic skills and how working together can achieve more. We never know, we might have inspired a future World Cup player. Well done to both year groups.
